Q: What is something in your life that you wish never ended?

– One of the saddest parts of life is that everything is temporary. Everything has an end.

– Even sadder, we don’t always know when something is going to end.

Luke 13:1-5

– Two catastrophic events that happened:

1) Pilate tortured a bunch of Galileans.

2) Tower fell on 18 people and killed them.

– Jews thought, “If something bad happened to them, they must have sinned to deserve it.”

Q: Do you think this type of thinking was true?

Q: Why do you think God allows these types of things to happen?

Q: What would the world be like if nothing bad ever happened, and everyone knew exactly when they were going to die?

[v. 6-9]

– Jesus tells a parable to make His point.

– Three Characters: The owner of the vineyard, the worker of the vineyard, and the fig tree.

Q: Who can guess who/what the three characters represent?

Q: What do you think it means to “bear fruit”?

Q: Can you be a “Christian” without bearing fruit?

Q: How does Jesus (the worker) work to help the fig tree (us) that doesn’t bear fruit?

Q: What do you think He means by, “I’ll dig around it and fertilize it”?

Q: What will happen to a fig tree that still does not bear fruit?

Challenge:  Don’t wait until it’s too late to bear fruit. Choose to get into the Bible, and allow other people to dig around and fertilize you so that you can bear fruit!
